Challenge

-Faith is a Conviction of the Things That We Do Not See-

Faith is a daily challenge. It is as common as eating 3 meals a day.

From the day that I graduated from Year Two of SOT (2004), I told myself that I would at least go for a mission trip every year. Time sped past. I'm now in 2006 and I'm brought back to my remembrance that I haven't gone forth with the Word for a year and a half now.

It's not that I have forgotten about my love for missions. My struggle has become much more real and much more intense this year.

I'm aiming for the trip in September this year. I'm struggling because first of all, it's probably going to be Building Fund season and I want to give my best. Secondly, I'm really saving for my wedding fund. These two priorities are enough to tie me down financially. Every week, I would look at the bulletin and see lists of upcoming mission trips and everytime, my heart will wage war within. I want to have more than enough for my wedding. I don't want to struggle with lack.
Finally George couldn't stand my wishy-washyness and said to me to not think so much and just go. He said I should just go first, and then come back and plan for the wedding afterwards.

There is so much truth in what he said. Truth as in I have never seen people who went for mission trips and came back not blessed. I have not. God somehow opens the windows of opportunities for our needs to come through. Truth as in I have gone through numerous building fund campaigns and saw that God provides seed for the sower. Truth as in God has never let me down. Truth as in it is true that there has first to be a sowing before a reaping.

And so, I have decided to save up for the mission trip in September. As I made the decision, I could feel a relief and a smile in my heart. It feels good. Pray with me my dear friends towards the realisation of my heart's desire.
I just bought this kitty pouch yesterday...hee guess what am I going to use it to contain? There is a prize for guessing. (The pouch is the size of my palm) ":p

Socks Galore!

I'm amazed, truly amazed.

Well, because if you know Huiling, you know that she does not wear sports shoes AT ALL. And if she does, it's only about ONCE A YEAR.

Guess what she always receive as gifts? SOCKS!!! There aren't many pairs here, but considering I'll probably wear only one of the pairs here like once a year, I'm living in abundance!! Please don't get me wrong, I like it as present, because I'm believing I'll be more sporty one day. One day.

Ps. I do appreciate socks as a gift, so thanks to all of you who has faith in me! Ha!

Asthetics

I can't resist posting this conversation with our dear Jane which amuses me.

(Pastor mentioned that asthetics is the part of you that will find yourself tearing when you stand before a majestic, beautiful painting, or touched to tears when you hear a beautiful song.)

Me : So which part of asthetics do u appreciate?
Jane: Music. You?
Me : Fashion.
Jane: So do you cry when you see a very beautiful piece of clothing?
Me : Bowled over with hilarious laughter.

Thank you Jane for bringing laughter into my life.

Life is Fragile

They say life is fragile. I used to think it as a cliche statement.

Not anymore.

In the recent two weeks there have been many turn of events in my life that made me realise that life is fleeting. I was in an accident (of course I was unscathed) and I thought I could have lost my life there and then if not for God's favor. Please don't get me wrong, there is nothing fearful in losing my life but there is a dreadful thought of leaving loved ones behind who would grieve, not to mention leaving behind financial and emotional burdens they have to carry.

There is definitely more to uphold and upkeep in life than our own precious life. There many lives intertwined with ours and we have to think of them. It is pathetic to live selfishly. It is irresponsible to think that whatever one does with his life does not affect somebody else.
So moving on, I want to tell all my loved ones whom our paths crossed, I appreciate you and I love you!

Sunny Side Up!

That day I was having lunch and the cook gave me a very beautiful Sunny Side Up. It looked so ooophmm, the yolk oozing out and stuff and beaming at me, that I couldn't resist capturing it down!

PS. Next to my Dear, I haven't seen another person cook such a nice one.

Hmmm....Huiling loves Sunny Side Up!

A Mock Comeback?

Hi Everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a long long long time...

Many of you are clamouring for updates.

I have a very helpful suggestion: Get me a laptop and I'll be able to have a computer to work with, and you won't miss me so much!

That day I went out with Jean and BF, Des and Deb. Finally I'm able to meet Jean and BF. Here are the photos...

Yearning

"Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the Lord, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you."

Hosea 10:12

Have you ever been so thirsty for the Holy Spirit that you wished you could spend every single living moment worshipping Him?

Have you ever yearn so much for the Holy Spirit that you wished you could be swept away to a desserted island, and do nothing except fellowship with Him?

Have you ever gone to work, school, or elsewhere and all you could think of is to find a solitary place to commune with Him? Or even feel like you want to rush home in the shortest, possible time to spend time with Him even while you are outside?

That's how I'm feeling now.

He's like my oxygen; my every single breath depends on Him. If He were to switch off from my life now, I would probably stop breathing. But the best thing about God is that He will always be here for us, for you, for me. Lord, let there be such a close union. I want your dreams and visions to live in me again.

Thanks to my courageous member who gave me a stirring verse. I felt like I am in my longest transition ever since three years ago. Perhaps God is going to do a deeper work than I had ever experienced, that's why this transition seemed to be taking forever. Perhaps God wants to do such a deep work so that I can move on to the next level. Whatever it is God, teach me to surrender.

I love you Lord.

Retrospect

- "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain." -

John 12:24

These few days, I've just been pondering on this verse which came to my mind ever since weeks ago...and until I get a revelation, that's all I'm sharing. Take care and God bless my dear ones!

Counting My Blessings

- Good things come in small packages -

People say, "Good things come in small packages".

I want to 'Amen' to that. Wanna thank God for everyone who put in effort to make my birthday a happy one. First, my cg gave me a surprise and a book that I really wanted, and spent time fellowshipping with me and wanting me to be happy. I won't name names because everyone counts.

Someone gave me something I never expected; a sketch book, but I truly, deeply appreciate that because no one notices my love for drawing except this person. Thank you! It's so thoughtful! It touches my heart.

Then my dear friend took me for dinner, spent time with me, called me and sang me a birthday song at twelve midnight, prayed for me, and that's not all, hand delivered me my present (earphones) to my workplace on my birthday which I started using the very day I received it. I carry it even to work with me now. Thank you my dear! You know who you are!

Another dear one hand delivered flowers to me, complete with a Pooh bear which I bring to sleep with me everyday (ha, you guys won't believe it right?), chocolates and a baby book. Yah, a B-A-B-Y book. Thank you dear!

Not forgetting those who made cards and stuff for me, and the dozens of wishes that came in.

Ah ha, I think I can mention Mr Lim, originator of George of The Jungle, who called me early to wish me. Thank you ah.

I had a blessed birthday this year. Thank you everyone! I love you all always!

A Year of Faithfulness

-Faithfulness is the Cornerstone of Character-

The above is often quoted, not often fully apprehended, not often put to maximum practise.

After 8 years of Christian walk, God is re-laying the foundation that always work in my life.

Being faithful is not passive obedience.

Being faithful is not just doing what you should do consistently.

It is holy determination that every little thing that God has entrusted us to do must be done well and done consistently.

It is a conviction that every small task that God has given us to do has to be given the most thorough thought to bring it to perfection.

Heb 3:1,2
"Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house."

Heb 3:5
And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward"

God has set this year to be a year where I'll simply be focused on being faithful to Him, in every aspect, in all manners, in magnitude and longitude.

What is God calling you to this year?

A New Beginning

- Don't expect others to take greater risks or make greater sacrifices than you have for your vision -
Unknown

Yesterday I went for a prayer walk.

I spent two and a half hours all by myself, loitering outside.

I decided to walk to a park a couple of bus stops away. As I walked, I pondered. I thought. I prayed.

Had been feeling frustrated for quite some time because I still didn't know what I want to do in 2005. Frustrated because I could have used the time to pursue my God-given destiny instead of hanging around and wondering where I am going this year.

Finally I had enough. I decided to find some quiet to clear my thoughts.

I settled in a corner of the park and started to read the book I had grabbed on my way out. It was title "Visioneering". God has an uncanny way of knowing what we need, down to the smallest details. It was just the book I need. As I read the book, God spoke into my heart, reminded me of things, and the time just passed.

Now, I'm happier because I have a sketch of what to do and where I want to be this year. No murky mess, no indistinguishable form. God will fill in the details along the way.

So, I've decided to give my blog a new look. The old has passed away. It signifies a new beginning. Welcome to God-Chaser me that I strive to be this year.

Here are some questions that came to my mind yesterday that I think can help you in your goal setting:

What do you want to achieve this year? Why do you want to achieve what you want to achieve? (Important because it's your driving force.)

Eg. To hit $XXX production, because by achieving that, I can have happiness by being able to choose having a higher standard of living.

What are the rewards associated with reaching your goals? (Keep imagining your rewards. They give a compelling visual effect.)

It is your character that God is interested in which brings me to my next question:

What kind of person do you need to become in order to achieve your goals? Write down specific behaviours you need to see in yourself.

Eg. Discipline to make XXX phone calls at least XXX times per week.
Discipline to read XXX chapters of the Bible per week, nothing short of
it.

2005!

WELCOME TO 2005!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is my first entry for 2005!

How's all your goal-setting coming along?

It's always mixed feelings when it comes to goal-setting. On one hand, there's the excitement of new things God has in store for us this year (and every year different! Serving God is really an adventure!); on the other hand, we have to throw away our past failures and setbacks so that we give ourselves a brand new start!! Amen?

I want to thank God for my new bilingual Bible!!!!! Thank You Jesus!!! Thank you Deb!
What a great way to start the new year!

Decided to blog a little during my lunch break, cos I was reading through all of you people's and it got me inspired......

1) First of all, before we end 2004, I want to thank God that Sharon is coming and Fuxiang is
staying with us. It is really encouraging to me and I believe for the cg too, that we are
making a difference and it is showing. Sharon and Fuxiang, God loves you and we love
you too!

2) Remember the season that God wants us (W140) to move into:

INFLUENCE
"Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do
not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes.
Isa 54:2

It's a season of making bold steps to step out to purposefully influence.

If you ask me, I'm still not happy with where I am. It's like you know there is a place God wants you to come to, and you keep walking yet somehow have not come to it, so I'm still doing and searching, doing and searching. But I know, I will come to the place. Dear people, keep walking! Exciting things are unfolding though you may not feel it! You'll be caught up in it sooner or later!

A special mention

All these while, there's another person who reads my blog that I haven't mention, and that's my dear. So it's a good chance to let you all know, that I treasure, love and appreciate him.

To my dear :
"Thank you for doing so much for me and being my supporter, I love you lots and lots and want you to know.

Shoes!

-- New Shoes --

Hi.....it's been a long time. Been plunging myself into my work (admin in the day, sales at night) this week. I managed to read all the blogs of all my beloveds and thought it's time for me to write something.

I wanna say something following on what Hui wrote. I wanna say it to my beloved W140. Huiling has not given up. Though there are many twists and turns this year, but nothing has ended. With a good attitude, trials make us better, love people more, treasure God's grace more preciously, and want to be a better servant. So Huiling has not given up, has not despaired, has gotten over disappointment. And you all can't give up too. Because we are in it together, for better, never for worse.

So now that God is taking Hui out of her comfort zone, and she begins to see more things, I wanna say this:

I told Ying over the phone, that nobody can replace Hui's shoes. Nobody needs to. We all simply need to wear bigger shoes, our own pair of bigger shoes. Nobody is needed to wear Hui's shoes because everybody will be filling in their own shoes, just that it's a much bigger size. So W140, we all have outgrown our old sizes, like Hui said, time to be out of comfort zone and wear a bigger size, because it'll fit much better then something that God has made us outgrown. We may need time to get used to the space and air in a bigger size, but it'll fit better.

I love you all. I believe in us. I believe in W140. Only if we do not give up, do not criticise one another, but do all things in love. I really do believe.

Now, I just want to be a good leader, a good discipler, a good servant, a good friend, a good follower of Christ. My enemy is only myself, and I wanna outdo myself for God. Help me to fulfill all this as we help one another. Love you guys.

My dearest my dearest all......

I realised that I had missed so much by not blogging, or at least I felt that I had missed so much. Felt like I've been around the world and back (my world is actually all my SOT exams, late assignments to catch up, Bible reading to catch up etc.) I felt like I have fought a war and came back. Haha. The GOOD NEWS is, I CLEARED all my exams!!! Praise God and thanks for all the prayers. Hmmm...but my battle has not ended yet! A great number of friends came for Celebration and I'm hoping that together with God and my beloved W140, we're gonna bear fruits. So there's work, work, and more work. Cos' REVIVAL is spelled W-O-R-K! :)

But I'm happy being busy because, "It is not how well you start, but how well you end". I'm determined to run a good race before the year ends at least. Jia you my di xiong jie mei in Christ!

Run with the Gospel
I'll carry revival
The love of Christ
Will set you free

A few loose thoughts here and there:

"Why is everybody's tagboard not working?"

"Deb's blog looked soooooo nice now. But why is my picture so BIG?!"

"Hui is getting more loh so nowadays in her blog. Ha."

And some pictures from SOT again, the Year Twos... (I haven't downloaded the cg ones on Deepavali)

First of all, all of us at the beginning of the year...
We felt that somehow all of us seemed to have come through and looked more matured now compared to this picture...

Chinese class in progress. In classes like these are my most unforgettable memories...

Pretending to be discussing, literally.

Pretending to study for exam, in the midst of graduation photo-taking

A nice one!

Ultra nice wallpapers courtesy of Jianxiong...Year Twos are going crazy over the bonding

Tuesday, October 19, 2004

Hi dear guys and gals,

I'm having an exam on Wed 1.30-3.30pm 19 Oct 2004.....Subject is History of Christianity...as you all can tell, it's all about history....and I don't have time to study..so please pray for me. Appreciate it!!!

You know what, I've planned quite a number of activities for cg along the line of visitations, events, fasting and prayer etc. I believe that indeed Oct till Dec 2004 won't be wasted. If we continue to communicate like the way we do now, things are looking good. All I need now is to know that when I share our vision (w140), I have young man and woman of God willing to put in whatever effort you guys have, to show ourselves and others that WE CAN STILL MAKE THINGS HAPPEN! Really, it's not difficult, but I need commitment from all my beloved team. Do I have it? In Jesus' name, Your will be done!
